About Dr. Priya Shankar

Dr. Priya Shankar is a senior obstetrician and gynecologist, fertility specialist, and academician with over two decades of experience in women’s healthcare, teaching, and research. She is currently a Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at KMC & RI, Hubli (Karnataka Medical College and Research Institute), one of North Karnataka’s premier medical institutions. She completed her MBBS from KMC Mangalore and her MD in Obstetrics & Gynecology from KMC Manipal. She has further specialised with a Fellowship in Reproductive Medicine (FRM) from WINGS, Ahmedabad, and a Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery (FMAS) from the World Laparoscopy Hospital, Delhi. She also holds FOGSI certification in basic and advanced ultrasound for fetal medicine, strengthening her work in high-risk obstetrics. Dr. Priya has been a dedicated undergraduate and postgraduate teacher for over 20 years, and an examiner and postgraduate thesis guide for more than 12 years, contributing significantly to medical education. Her clinical interests include infertility, gynecological endoscopy, and high-risk pregnancy care. She has authored a textbook chapter on menopause and published seven scientific papers in international OBGYN journals. A life member of IMA, FOGSI, IFS, ISAR, WALS, and HDOGS, Dr. Priya is known for her well-informed, non-judgmental approach, emphasising detailed history-taking, meaningful patient interaction, and ethical, compassionate care.
